AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Sometimes in baseball mistakes come back to haunt you while other times they show you what your made of.  Casey McGehee dropped a pop-up in the sixth inning which was costly for the Brewers, but luckily for him he was given a chance for redemption. McGehee came through with a Grand Slam in the sixth inning to give the Brewers a 10-6 win over the reeling New York Mets.
Braden Looper pitched well in the game and went 6.1 innings giving up 3 earned runs before the bullpen was brought in. I thought Looper did a good job on this night [...]

Brewers Cannot Figure Out Giants Pitcher Ryan Sadowski

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Ryan Sadowski pitched with poised and was able to pitch six scoreless innings in his debut, and the bullpen finished the job for him in a 7-0 Giants win. The win help the Giants avoid a series sweep by the Brewers. For the Brewers their record dropped to 0-4 when a new pitcher has debut in the Majors. It seems Brewers hitters just cannot figure out guys they have never seen in the Major Leagues.
Jeff Suppan started for the Brewers and he struggled once again. He tried to be to fine in certain instances and it cost him. In total [...]

Prince Fielder Powers Milwaukee’s Comeback Win

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

After falling behind in the ninth inning it looked bleak for Brewer fans, but Prince Fielder has never been a guy to give up and his double in the bottom of ninth gave the Brewers a 7-6 comeback victory over the Giants.  Early in this game though it looked like the Brewers were in for another loss at home as the Giants jumped out to a 4-0 lead after five innings.  Seth McClung who started the game lasted just four innings giving up three earned runs in his first start of the season. This meant that the bullpen needed to [...]

Gallardo, Braun Help Brewers Stop Giants 5-1

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

With Dave Bush on the disabled list and Manny Parra trying to figure out what has gone wrong with his control in the minors Yovani Gallardo stepped up with a great pitching performance for the Brewers. Gallardo struck out nine while giving up four hits and three walks and lasted well into the eight inning helping the Brewers to a 5-1 win. The Brewers ace showed a lot of poised and made quality pitches when he had too. This is what the Brewers needed out of him every start or at least most of his starts. If Gallardo can become [...]

Brewers Glad Twins Leaving Town After Another Loss

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

If the Milwaukee Brewers see the Minnesota Twins again it will be way too soon. So far this season the Twins seem to have the Brewers number and last night was another indication of it as well.  Denard Span tripled, walked three times and even scored three runs in his first game back from the disabled list to help the Twins stop the Brewers 6-4. Scott Baker turned in another fine performance for the Twins as well. This loss drops the Brewers interleague play record to 5-10 so far. Maybe it’s time we petition the league to stop interleague play [...]

Brewers End Losing Streak With Twins Help

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Sometimes you need a little help to win some baseball games and the Brewers got that in the form of two costly errors from the Minnesota Twins.  Jason Kendall two out double tied the score in the eight inning, but his hustling effort also lead to costly Twins errors to give the Brewers a 4-3 win. Kendall double was fielded by Twins outfielder Brendan Harris relay to the plate skipped passed Twins catcher Joe Maurer. Kendall went to third and Twins pitcher Nick Blackburn threw the ball from home plate to third where the ball got away from Joe Crede [...]

Brewers Losing Streak Stands At Four After Losing To Twins 7-3

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

No matter what the Milwaukee Brewers do these days they seem to not have an answer for the Minnesota Twins or their problems playing at home. Over the weekend Miller Park took on a lot of rain and some damage was done, but on the field it was the Twins who did the damage to the Brewers. Minnesota got to Jeff Suppan early with timely two-out hits by Joe Crede, Carlos Gomez and Brendan Harris to drive in six of their seven runs and claim a 7-3 victory over the Brewers. It was the fourth straight loss for the Brewers [...]

Is It Time For Brewers To Trade For Pitching?

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers | COMMENTS: None Yet

One of the hottest topics among Brewer fans this year and that last few years have been starting pitching. When the Brewers traded away some top prospects for CC Sabathia Brewers fans thought this is what the Brewers needed. In the end though CC went to the Yankees and Ben Sheets was never resigned. So what are the Brewers option.
First they could trade for someone, but that would mean giving current players or prospects up. Even if we do trade for a pitcher there really is no guarantee they will stay with the club for the long haul. The second [...]

Tigers Sweep Brewers With 3-2 Win Sunday

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Well after a sweep of the Cleveland Indians earlier in the week the Milwaukee Brewers now know how it feels to get swept as the Detroit Tigers turn that trick this weekend. Tigers Brandon Inge hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning and Justin Verlander pitched extremely well for the Detroit Tigers who stopped Milwaukee 3-2.  Yovani Gallardo pitched well and the home run to Inge was his only mistake, but it cost him and the Brewers the win.
Casey McGehee hit a home run in the first inning to give the Brewers an early 1-0 lead. Craig Counsell lead [...]

Rain, Tigers Stop Brewers 10-4

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Brewers were in Detroit to battle the Tigers and also the elements and did not beat either one as the Tigers came away with a 10-4 win in seven innings. After a quick start and an early lead on a three run Prince Fielder home run in the first inning it was all Detroit Tigers in a very wild game.  Marcus Thames hit two home runs for the Tigers who got the best of the Brewers in game one of the series 10-4. The game featured two replay reversals and in the fourth inning a 2 hour and 3 [...]
