Fielder, Gallardo Help Brewers Earn Split In Nationals Series

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Prince Fielder continued to stay hot and Yovani Gallardo struck out 11 batters in seven innings to power the Milwaukee Brewers to a 7-3 win over the Washington Nationals. By winning the game the Brewers earned a split with the Nationals and now must head out to San Diego and a West Coast swing.
Yovani Gallardo pitched seven strong innings striking out 11 Nationals and just walking one. Many times Gallardo has struggled with his control so walking just one guy was huge in this game for him. The bullpen came in and did another good job which is what the [...]

Casey McGehee Helps Brewers End Losing Skid

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Mackail McGehee has cerebral palsy, but that did not stop him from throwing out the first pitch before the game. He also got to watch his dad Casey McGehee come off the bench to hit a pinch hit two run homer to help fuel a Brewers 7-5 victory over Washington and end their losing streak for the time being.
Manny Parra started the game and pitched 6.0 innings giving up five runs and nine hits. He did walk five batters which is not something you want to see, but also struck out seven as well. Trevor Hoffman came in to nail [...]

Brewers Continue July’s Swoon As washington Beats Them 8-3

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Don’t look Brewer fans, but the playoffs are slowing fading away as the Brewers dropped another one to the Washington Nationals this time by a score of 8-3. The same old story no pitching again leads to another Brewer loss. The Brewers have now lost 16 out of 23 and it looks like unless some miracle turnaround happens Brewer fans will be treated to no playoffs again.
Last night the Brewers decided to start Carlos Villanueva because of the pitching problems they have had and he did not fare much better. Villanueva allowed five runs and eight hits in four innings [...]

Someone Call 911 Brewers Sinking Fast

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Could the nearest Brewer fan will a cell phone please call 911 because the Brewers are sinking like a rock. After Atlanta come in and put the beat down on the Brewers over the weekend a series with Washington was suppose to provide welcome relief. Instead it showed how bad the Brewers pitching really was as the Nationals pounded the Brewers by a score of 14-6. The Brewers are trying to trade for some pitching, but will it really help or be too late anyways.
Jeff Suppan started the game and probably would have been better off just to stay home [...]

Wanted Pitching Apply At Miller Park In Milwaukee

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Wanted Pitching please apply at Miller Park is the perfect headline for the Milwaukee Brewers and the direction they are going in. After yesterday’s 10-2 whipping at the hands of the Atlanta Braves I think what  Ryan Braun said a few weeks back rings real true right now. The Brewers need pitching and they need it soon.
Braden Looper started the game and lately he has been pitching very well until yesterday. He gave up five runs in just six innings, but not to be outdone the bullpen came in and in three innings gave up another five runs. Stand up [...]

Finally Brewers Get Some Pitching In 4-0 Win

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

It has taken close to four months, but Brewer fans finally got to see Yovani Gallardo pitch like he is capable of last night in a 4-0 win over the Atlanta Braves. This was a very important game for a number of different reasons. First the Brewers needed to stop the slide they were on and the pitching has been so horrible they were due for a good performance sometime.
Yovani Gallardo pitched 7.1 scoreless innings and even help his cause by driving in a run. He pitched very well and looked like the ace the Brewers thought he could be. [...]

Brewers Continue Slide As Atlanta Rolls Over Them 9-4

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Milwaukee Brewers came home after a rough road trip, but forgot in order to win ball games you must play well. They did not and Atlanta came in and won 9-4 to put the Milwaukee Brewers at .500 a number that should alarm the ownership, but we will see if anything comes of it.
Pitching for the Brewers have been horrible so why would last night be any different. Manny Parra who had pitched well just did not have it last night.  Parra gave up 10 hits in just 5 innings of work allowing 3 earned runs, but four for [...]

Brewers Drop Another in Pittsburgh This Time 8-7

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

It was suppose to be a road trip where the Milwaukee Brewers would get back on track, instead all it did was show  how bad they are playing. Yesterday the Brewers pitching staff gave up five home runs in a 8-7 loss in Pittsburgh and ended their recent road trip with a 3-4 record. When your playing against teams like Cincinnati and Pittsburgh you need to take these types of series, but Milwaukee felt it did not need them I guess.
Jeff Suppan started and usually pitches well against the Pirates, but yesterday that did not happen as he lasted only [...]

Looper, Fielder Power Brewers Over Pirates

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Braden Looper got just enough run support and he gave the Brewers seven innings of four hit ball as the Brewers were able to beat the Pirates by a 2-0 score.  For Looper this win showed how far he has come as a pitcher and now maybe one of the better performers the Brewers have had on the mound in recent weeks.
Prince Fielder and Craig Counsell each had very good hitting games to help power the Brewers offense. Both players have been on fire of late and this game was just another indication of that. Trevor Hoffman picked up his [...]

Brewers Can’t Figure Out Pirates In 8-5 Loss

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well you knew it would happen eventually when you beat a team 17 straight times they would eventually win. Last night the Pittsburgh Pirates finally did and came away with a 8-5 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. It was a win that all Brewer fans knew would come so getting it out of the way now may have been a good idea.
Mike Burns started the game for the Brewers and got shelled in only three innings he gave up six runs on six hits and took the loss. Burns just did not have it tonight and that was evident from [...]
