Fielder, Gallardo Help Brewers Earn Split In Nationals Series

Prince Fielder continued to stay hot and Yovani Gallardo struck out 11 batters in seven innings to power the Milwaukee Brewers to a 7-3 win over the Washington Nationals. By winning the game the Brewers earned a split with the Nationals and now must head out to San Diego and a West Coast swing.

Yovani Gallardo pitched seven strong innings striking out 11 Nationals and just walking one. Many times Gallardo has struggled with his control so walking just one guy was huge in this game for him. The bullpen came in and did another good job which is what the Brewers needed. Getting these two wins have to give the Brewers some confidence heading out west. At least we can hope that is the case.

Prince Fielder hit his 25th home run and Craig Counsell also went deep early to give the Brewers the lead.  Mike Cameron has been playing well as of late and he had a key play when he was able to avoid the tag at home plate to score a run. At the time in the game it was a huge play for the Brewers. The Brewers now take on the Padres and they need to start beating teams they should and San Diego is one of them.
