Last year when Ken Macha came into as head coach he rubbed a few players the wrong way. Not that he meant to or it was personal between him and some of the players. Many Brewer players wanted someone else as manager and some players did not like Macha’s approach from day one. Well sometimes I do not understand what goes through Doug Melvin’s head or what he is thinking by some of the people he has signed as GM. According to different sources he has signed outfielder Jim Edmonds to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Corey Hart did not think he had much of a chance to win his arbitration friday, but he was surprised as he came out on top. The Brewers tried to avoid this outcome, but last ditch negotiations fell through. With Hart’s win he will now get 4.8 million dollars and can look forward to the 2010 baseball season. The Milwaukee Brewers have announced on Aug 24 they will be unveiling a seven foot statue of Bud Selig outside Miller Park. Bud Selig bought the Seattle Pilots in bankruptcy court in 1970 and moved them to Milwaukee and renamed them. Selig has done a lot for the Brewers, but he also has many die-hard Brewer fans who are  not fond of Selig either. The statue is a nice touch for a man who did bring baseball back to Milwaukee. Carlos Gomez from the start will be a guy that Brewer fans will expect a lot from. Milwaukee traded J.J. Hardy to Minnesota to get him and they hope he will pay big dividends.  Last year Milwaukee had Mike Cameron in centerfielder, but chose not to resign him as they wanted to try cut some payroll. Prince Fielder right now is the cornerstone of the Brewers offense, but how much longer will that be the case. Yes, the Brewers have him until 2011 after that who knows. His agent is Scott Boras and you can be sure he will advise his client to take a wait and see approach. Prince Fielder has hinted that is exactly what he probably will due.
