The Greinke Saga Continues……

Yes Zach, this is how I picture you playing basketball.  For everyone who follows the Brewers, Greinke made headlines this off season for his “C’mon Man” moment during the off season. I for one want to know what kind of thugs this guy plays with that he cracked a rib.  I know when I play a little pick up basketball no one is cracking a rib.  I understand the guy is an athlete, but once again C’MON MAN!

Anyways, for some good news.  Greinke made a rehab start tonight for the Brevard County Manatees, the Brewers single A  affiliate.  According to @AdamMcCalvy and a very confusing gamecast, Greinke threw three almost perfect innings tonight.  This is not a knock at the Manatees, but their website and gamecast is very hard to follow.  At one time their site said that Greinke had thrown 5 innings.  They were wrong.  Like I said earlier, he pitched 3 innings tonight throwing 35 total pitches, 27 of them for strikes.  He also had 2 strikeouts and only allowing only one hit.  That hit was to Tampa catcher Mitch Abeita, so if you see him give him a round of applause.

Ok folks, I understand this is only A ball, but from what I’ve read it sounds like he had a hell of a first start back. According to a report passed along to Brewers media relations director Mike Vassallo, Greinke, “felt great” and worked with 91-94 mph fastball velocity.

The Manatees are off in 5 days so Greinke is expected to make his next rehab start with Triple-A Nashville.  Roenicke has said the Greinke will have to make 3 rehab starts before returning.  Let’s hope we see him sometime in early May.  The sooner the better.  This goes without saying, but Zach if you are reading this NO MORE BASKETBALL!

A quick note before I go.  The Brewers are having some success tonight against the one they call ‘DOC”.  As I finish this post it is the top of the 6th and the Brew is on top 2-0 on a RBI single by Kotarras and a solo oppo bomb by Ryan Braun……….

Hold on, now 3-0.  RBI single by none other than my least favorite brewer (that’s being nice) Mark Kotsay.
