The Brewer power ranking is a composite score that considers on the field as well as off the field activities.  Do we really need a Brewer player power ranking?  Of course we do.

1: Carlos Gomez

After a stellar 2013, Gomez was honored with a Gold Glove and MVP votes.  Make it through the off-season controversy free and you are the favorite to keep the number one spot Mr. Carlos Gomez.

2: Will Smith

The Brewers’ big Hot Stove move: trading Norichika Aoki for Will Smith gets you high in the power rankings (at least this time).  Okay, so the Brewers now have the Fresh Prince, and the Bucks have Larry Sanders.  How long before the Packers draft a cornerback named Tony Danza?

3: Jean Segura

Will he lead off or not?  Will we see early 2013 Segura, or late season Segura?  Just can’t wait to see what next year brings for the Brewers shortstop.

4: Tyler Thornburg

Ron Roenicke already named Thornburg his fifth starter.  Why?  Did Tyler come into possession of some embarrassing photos?  Even if Thornburg is deserving of the starting spot, the timing is a little bit odd.

5: Kyle Lohse

Lohse is the Brewers ace.  I know, but he is our ace so he is number five.

6. Ryan Braun

So he’s really moving to right field?

7: Jim Henderson

Despite a lot of closer Hot Stove chatter, Henderson still heads into 2014 as the favorite to close out the ninth.

8: Aramis Ramirez

With all of the focus on first base, Ramirez and his recovery must love the distraction.  In fact let’s not worry about third base; I’m sure everything will be just fine.  Who said the word depth?  Stop saying that word!

9: Scooter Gennett

Scooter is also in lead-off debates.  Other burning question: Will he platoon at second base with Weeks?  Big difference this year is that Weeks is fighting to platoon with Gennett and not the other way around.

10: Khris Davis

How often does he slip “So they made Ryan Braun change positions so I could play everyday” into his conversations?  I would definitely try to work it in once every hour.

Honorable Mention: Jonathan Lucroy (Because he’s Jon Lucroy that’s why.)

What do you think?  Expecting Bernie Brewer to crack the top ten?  Well, we have a whole season to rank the Brewers.  Let me know your rankings and your top ten heading into Spring Training.
