Donovan Hand Designated For Assignment

To make room for newly-acquired Francisco Rodriguez, the Milwaukee Brewers designated RHP Donovan Hand for assignment. Because the 40-man roster was already filled, this was a necessary move.

2013 was Hand’s first season in the major leagues. In 31 games (seven starts) for Milwaukee last season, Hand went 1-5 with a 3.69 ERA. He was more successful as a reliever, boasting a 3.13 opposed to a 4.17 ERA as a starter.

According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Brewers plan on inviting Hand to big-league camp if he goes unclaimed through waivers.

In Reviewing the Brew’s ‘Grading the Brewers’ series, I gave a Hand a B for his performance in 2013.
