The Milwaukee Brewers just keep adding to their fire for 2014 and perhaps the return of Francisco Rodriguez may help them pull somewhat full circle. The reliever will be making yet again another return to Miller Park with the Brew Crew this season.

This week, the question for the staff was, “What does Francisco Rodriguez bring to this bullpen for a third time?”

Ryan Connor:

“Twenty pitches of terror. He has the “proven closer” thing going for him (which isn’t an actual thing). His peripherals were good last year, so he’ll probably be a pretty solid RP.”

Justin Schultz:

“This was a good signing. He makes the bullpen better. That’s a fact. Despite what people may think of him as a person, he is a needed piece in a relatively young bullpen. He has closing experience which will be needed if Jim Henderson flounders. I’m glad to see K-Rod back in a Brewers’ uniform.”

David Grant:

I really like this signing. Bringing Francisco Rodriguez back upgrades the rotation with experience and proven success. With Matt Garza onboard, the young arms (Johnny Hellweg, Jimmy Nelson, and Tyler Thornburg) will probably spend most of their time in the pen. Having the veteran Rodriguez may assist with their maturation and development. Also, as Brewer fans we are well aware of the roller coaster ride closers can put their team through. Rodriguez is an insurance policy should Jim Henderson or Brandon Kintzler stumble or suffer an injury.”

Benjamin Orr:

“This is a pretty great signing when you consider the alternative reliever on the market was Carlos Marmol and we all know how that story goes. The fact is, K-Rod has had success in Milwaukee (3.15 ERA, K/9 of 9.4) and he provides a nice security blanket for the pretty inexperienced bullpen. Sure there are guys like Kintzler, Henderson and Tom Gorzelanny who have experience, but the rest of the bullpen could learn a thing or two from K-Rod.”

That’s what we had to say regarding the return of K-Rod, how about you? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
