Ryan Braun wasted no time in shutting up his critics.
To a mixture of boos and applause, the Brewers’ right fielder hit a two-run homer to left field off LHP Tommy Milone in his first plate appearance this spring training.
The Brewers posted a video of his home run to their Instagram account.
Braun hit .298 with nine home runs and 38 RBI in 61 games in 2013. He was suspended 65 games by Major League Baseball on July 23 for performance-enhancing drug use. He sat out the rest of the season.
The Brewers are counting on Braun to return to the player he was in 2011, when he won the National League MVP award. A home run in his first at bat is definitely a good sign.
