Jean Segura Avoids Disabled List

Brewers’ Jean Segura will avoid the disabled list as he and manager Ron Roenicke think his injured right shoulder is healthy enough to remain on the active roster.

Segura, 24, will be in the Brewers’ starting lineup on Monday as Milwaukee takes on the Atlanta Braves. Segura has been dealing with a sore shoulder since March 18, and has been kept of the lineup. Until recently, the Brewers feared Segura would require a DL stint.

The shortstop hit .294 with 12 home runs and 49 runs batted in during the 2013 campaign, his first full season in the big leagues. He earned an All-Star nod along with teammate Carlos Gomez.

Segura is projected to bat second behind Gomez this season.
