This is a little late, but the Milwaukee Brewers have placed first baseman Lyle Overbay on the paternity list. Overbay’s wife, Sarah, gave birth to the couple’s fifth child, Eddie Christian Overbay. Eddie is the fourth boy to join the Overbay clan.
Manager Ron Roenicke said Eddie was born a week and a half early.
Overbay was not with the Brewers last night as Milwaukee fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Major League Baseball rules allows for three days of paternity leave, but Overbay hopes to return a day early on Saturday.
The Brewers called up utility man Elian Herrera from Triple-A Nashville to take Overbay’s roster spot. Herrera didn’t see any action in his first game with the team on Thursday.
