Carlos Gomez Suspended Three Games

In addition to Martin Maldonado, who was suspended five games, Carlos Gomez was handed a three-game suspension for his role in a bench-clearing brawl with Pittsburgh Pirates’ pitcher Gerrit Cole, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday.

Travis Snider (two games) and Russell Martin (one game) were also suspended. All of the culprits were fined as well. Gomez has already said he plans to appeal his suspension.

If you somehow missed the brawl, you can watch it below.

It’s pretty interesting Cole wasn’t suspended, considering he initiated the confrontation by walking about to Gomez and cursing. If not for Cole’s action, we wouldn’t be talking about any of this.

Sorry, have to disagree. One of the coolest T-shirts and hat they have sold over the past few years featured this “Running Mr. Met” and it is appealing to adults and kids. While the whole MLB is changing BP caps for selling more swag, this look for the Mets BP cap is not new…just rejiggered for their BP cap

The article has this completely wrong. Cole started the altercation. If Gomez is expected to hold his temper, then Cole should be expected to hold his tongue. As the starter of the altercation, Cole needs to be held responsible for his actions. If Cole kept his mouth shut and played baseball nothing would have happened.

I don’t know how this article is wrong when I wrote “it’s pretty interesting Cole wasn’t suspended, considering he initiated the confrontation by walking about to Gomez and cursing. If not for Cole’s action, we wouldn’t be talking about any of this.”
