We’re all cheering for the former Brewers in this year’s World Series, regardless of who we are actually cheering for to win the whole thing. Lets take a quick run through game one and see how they did.

Kansas City Royals

Alcides Escobar, SS
Line: 1-for-4, 1 SO, 2 LOB

Escobar had an eighth inning single after the Giants had already all but locked the game away. In the third inning he struck out when Omar Infante on third base and Mike Moustakas on second base for the first out of the inning (the Royals failed to score). He didn’t have to make any spectacular plays in the field.

Nori Aoki, RF
Line: 0-for-4, 1 SO, 3 LOB

Like Escobar, Aoki whiffed with two runners in scoring position in the third inning, helping to kill the Royals best shot at rallying all night. He also looked silly on Joe Panik’s triple, let’s watch:

Lorenzo Cain, CF
Line: 0-for-2, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 SO

Cain is the only former Brewer in the Royals lineup that didn’t leave a runner on base last night. After Escobar and Aoki struck out in that third inning rally, Cain walked to load the bases but an Eric Hosmer ground out ended the inning. Cain got hit by a pitch in the first inning, but after the HBP and BB he didn’t reach base again.

I really thought he was going to catch it with is face.

Ned Yost, Manager

I didn’t find any obvious faults with Yost last night. I thought he stuck with Shields too long but not to the point where it was actually a mistake.

San Francisco Giants

Travis Ishikawa, LF
Line: 0-for-1

Ishi didn’t get much of a chance to do anything. Once the Giant chased Shields from the game he was lifted for a pinch hitter and defensive replacement in left.
