Ryan Braun is hitting well. So well, in fact, that he has had at least one hit in the last 18 games.

This has happened before in Milwaukee – quite a bit actually – but there is something fun about hitting streaks. Especially when you start to climb into the 20′s. You are approaching history.

With Ryan Braun on the precipice of this ocassion – and Ramirez closing in with his own 12 game streak – we’re taking a look back today at some of the best Milwaukee baseball has had to offer in terms of hitting streaks, to see just how far Braun and Company have to go to reach Milwaukee immortality. Yet again, it’s that time. Time to find out five fun facts about one of the Brew Crew. Today’s spotlight is on that of Brewers’ left fielder Ryan Braun. Braun, ever since coming up in 2007, has been an absolute menace to opposing pitchers and a massive offensive and defensive force for us. Winning the NL MVP last year was just another huge step in the great career of Ryan Braun. Braun is also a Rookie of the Year Award winner, a four time All-Star, four time Silver Slugger Award winner and he is a part of the 30-30 club. Now, I’m sure you already knew this about Braun, so let’s delve into some interesting facts about him:

Jody Gerut: The most improbable cycle?

Greetings and salutations, Brewer fans, and welcome to Reviewing the Brew, where we focus on any and all things related to Wisconsin’s MLB franchise. My name is Dave McGrath, and I’ll be your guide here at RtB. I’ll post a more thorough introduction about myself on an upcoming off-day, but you can know that I am a UW-Madison graduate that has worked as a sports journalist since 2004, covering the Badger football, men’s basketball and hockey teams, the Green Bay Packers and the Brewers.
Anyway, as any Brewer fan knows, there is a LOT of ground to cover with this team, from lineups, managerial decisions… heck, Jeff Suppan will probably have an entire series dedicated to him. And I hope to get to all hot topics in due time.
However, to kick off my contributions to this blog, I’ve decided that a look at a more positive aspect of the squad, that being Jody Gerut hitting for the sixth cycle in team history on Saturday against Arizona.
Now, when I first heard that, I thought to myself: “Jody Gerut??? That has to be the most unlikely candidate to hit for the cycle ever.”
