The Milwaukee Brewers are set to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round of the MLB playoff in just a matter of hours and it is safe to say that there has been a lot to think about. With Brandon Woodruff's shoulder injury keeping him out for at least the first round, Milwaukee's pitching situation just got a lot more complicated and there are the usual bullpen and bench questions to settle.

While we took our best crack at predicting who would make the Brewers' playoff roster a couple days ago, the results are in and Milwaukee made their playoff roster official earlier today.

Brewers announce Wild Card series roster

The big news here is obviously that Woodruff is out, but this was already a given before the announcement. Milwaukee will lean on Corbin Burnes and Freddy Peralta in the first two games of the series and hopefully won't have to dip into any more starting arms beyond them although Wade Miley did make the postseason roster.

The biggest highlights of the Brewers' roster on the position player side are the inclusion of Owen Miller, Jesse Winker, and Joey Wiemer. Wiemer at least makes some sense since he is so good defensively, but that is a lot of guys that haven't exactly torn the cover off the ball this season on the wild card roster.

As for the notable cuts, it looks like Garrett Mitchell being out for as long as he was kept him off the playoff roster and Rowdy Tellez missed the cut as well. Tellez missed a chunk of time this season and has not done much at the plate at all in 2023 with a .667 OPS in 351 plate appearances.

It is almost time for another shot at playoff glory for the Brewers. While not all the news has been great in the lead up to the start of this series, Milwaukee still looks like a force to be contended with at the start of the 2023 postseason.

I started my career writing about baseball covering the Atlanta Braves for SB Nation's Talking Chop back in 2015 which has since been renamed Battery Power. After years of writing for those fine folks, I made the decision to take over as Site Expert at House That Hank Built before becoming a full-time MLB Staff Writer for FanSided in 2023. Along the way, I have been a guest on multiple ESPN radio affiliates as well as 680 The Fan and 92.9 The Game to discuss Braves baseball and especially Braves prospects and was a long-time host on the Battery Power podcast. These days, I continue to write about the Braves as well as covering the Astros, Padres, and Angels with particular expertise with minor league coverage, the MLB Draft, and bashing Anthony Rendon when possible. When I am not writing about or talking about baseball (which is seldom), I am an avid baseball card collector (Maddux and Soroka being my primary personal collections) and I also collect shark teeth. All other sports are mostly dead to me as my Bills have broken my heart too many times.
