Brewers Get Wrecked By The Pirates

In a game that featured fans yelling Kyle Lohse‘s last name during every pitch, a Jordy Mercer home run, and an Irving Falu, this was easily the worst game of the season by the Milwaukee Brewers.

What started out as a back and forth game, it rapidly turned into what you see pictured above…a dumpster fire.

The Brewers’ pitching staff was less than stellar this evening. Kyle Lohse’s final line was 5 IP, 9H, 8ER, BB, K, HB, WP, and 2 HR. Tyler Thornburg came in to relieve Lohse in the top of the 6th inning, only to surrender five runs on 36 pitches in 1 IP. Thornburg’s ERA went from 2.83 to 4.25. Wei-Chung Wang came in to get the Brewers through the rest of the game. He had a decent outing, going 2 innings and only giving up 2 ER.

The Brewers’ offense wasn’t much better. The team accumulated 11 hits while only manufacturing 5 runs with 7 runners left on base. In comparison, the Pirates had 15 runs on 16 hits with 7 runners left on base.

Tomorrow Matt Garza takes the mound for the Brewers as they will attempt to put this miserable showing behind them. Edinson Volquez takes the hill for the Pirates. Brewer pre-game show starts at 2:30 CT on Fox Sports Wisconsin and first pitch is set for 3:05.
