Brewers Bats Provide Fireworks In 11-2 Rout Of Cubs
For the most part the Milwaukee Brewers bats have not done the job when they have needed them, but on July 4 they provide plenty of fireworks. The Brewers got off to a fast start with five runs in the first inning and cruised to a 11-2 rout of the Cubs on July 4.
Casey McGehee had four hits and 5 RBI’s while Mike Cameron and J.J. Hardy went deep in the 14 hits and 11 runs the Brewers got. McGehee has been a real pleasant surprise this year and he continues to play extremely well for the Brewers. He has been needed since so many Brewer players have struggled at the plate. Corey Hart and Ryan Braun got two hits apiece and Prince Fielder was walked three times as well.
Braden Looper gave the Brewers six strong innings giving up two runs and two hits. The bullpen came in and shut the door. This was a win the Brewers needed as now it gives them a chance to spilt with the Cubs which is very important. The Brewers need to continue to swing the bats though as that is the key to help a pitching staff that is struggling at times.
