Counsell Coffey Spark Brewers To 5-1 Win In Cincinnati
Craig Counsell has filled in nicely for the injured Rickie Weeks and Todd Coffey pitched well out of the bullpen as the Brewers stopped the Reds by a score of 5-1. The win means the Brewers have won 2 out of 3 games to start the second half which is important and are only two games out of first place.
Manny Parra started for the Brewers and gave them six good innings before turning it over to the bullpen. The bullpen was able to shut the door the rest of the way to get the win. Todd Coffey was impressive out of the bullpen as he came in and then had to sit for a long rain delay, but came back and pitched strong. Brewers were also able to save Trevor Hoffman so he can be used another time. The Brewers do not want to over use Hoffman as towards the end of the season is when they will really need him.
Craig Counsell in recent weeks has really picked up his hitting and yesterday was no exception. He was 2 for 5 with a home run to help get the Brewers moving offensively. Mike Cameron and Corey Hart both got two hits as well and J.J. Hardy also went deep in the Brewers win. Today the Brewers send Yovani Gallardo to the mound and hopefully another win.
