It seems no matter how hard the offense for the Milwaukee Brewers tries the pitching staff always finds ways to lose and last night was no exception. After spotting Braden Looper a 7-1 after two innings Looper and the bullpen could not close it out and the Brewers fell to the San Diego Padres by a score of 11-7. Another loss in a dismal season which has seen the Brewers not play the way they are capable of.
You would think that when Braden Looper got staked to a 7-1 lead he would be able to hold that, but he could not. Looper made mistakes over the plate and when you do that they will consistently hit the ball and the Padres did that. Looper in just five innings of work gave up 10 hits and six earned runs. It’s okay though as the bullpen finish the job by giving up another five runs to finish out another horrible pitching performance by the Brewers pitching stat.
Prince Fielder and Corey Hart both had great games for the Brewers, but unless they start to get some pitching it really does not matter. You can score all the runs in the world, but if your pitchers cannot hold the lead it’s useless. Now I think that the Brewers have bigger issues then just pitching and I will discuss that in greater detail in the next article that will be posted. Hopefully the Brewers can get a win today and Sunday and start this trip out on a good note.
