Big First Powers Brewers To Rout Of Houston
Getting a big lead helps any struggling pitching staff and the Milwaukee Brewers jumped out to a early lead and cruised to a 11-2 rout of the struggling Houston Astros. For the Brewers to get a good start to a series is crucial and maybe this win will make it a good weekend for a change you never know.
Many times one guy can set the tone for a game and Felipe Lopez helped do that early by hustling to first base. These kind of plays can spark a struggling team and that set the tone for a Brewers eight run first inning. Lopez and Ryan Braun both went deep in the first inning and Braun came back in the second inning and went deep again. The Brewers had 14 hits with ever Brewer starter getting at least one hit.
Yovani Gallardo was the recipient of the run barrage and he made the most of it with a good performance. Gallardo went 6.0 innings giving up just two earned runs and striking out seven Houston Astros. The bullpen came in and finished the job. All in all a great start to the series as the Brewers need to start winning some games so they can cut the NL Central race lead down. The Brewers still have a chance, but need to play better baseball now.
