Brewers Pound Nationals 7-1 Behind Big Sixth Inning

In day games the Milwaukee Brewers have struggle this year with just a 15-25 record. With a afternoon start you really did not know what to expect from this team as one game they play well one game they do not. The Brewers used the home run and got some good pitching from Yovani Gallardo for a 7-1 rout of the Washington Nationals.

Yovani Gallardo started for the Brewers and gave up just one run on four hits in five innings of work. The bullpen came in and did a fine job of shutting the door. The bad thing about Brewers starters not going long in games is our bullpen is really putting in a lot of innings and that is something you do not want to see. Of course with the Brewers all but out of the playoff chase I guess it really does not matter anymore.

The sixth inning is where the Brewers bats finally came alive with Ryan Braun going deep to help ignite a six run sixth inning. Jody Gerut homered in the eighth inning for the Brewers other run. It seems besides Braun and Fielder we cannot consistently get anyone to step up hitting the ball for the Brewers. Another thing that I have noticed as the season has progressed to many Brewers hitters are striking out. If you do not put the ball in play it does not give you much chance of winning any games. The Brewers now have Cincinnati up next another team they should be able to beat.
