There is one thing you can say about the 2009 Milwuakee Brewers this year and that is they are a very giving team. Take last night for instance a Mike Cameron error, and a Todd Coffey relief apperance and the Brewers found another way to lose this time 3-2 to the Giants. The bad part is the Brewers got a good pitching performance only to see it wasted. Well it’s the 2009 Milwaukee Brewers edition so would we expect anything less.
Jeff Suppan who I had advocated we need to cut ties with at the end of the season pitched well again. He went 5.2 inning and gave up just two runs and they were unearned so in reality he pitched extremely well and should have gotten a win. Instead he got no decision and Todd Coffey came in and gave up the winning home run. I am at a lost why Coffey is still pitching for the Brewers or brought in as much as he is. Coffey has not been able to get the job done all season long so why use him in close games.
The Brewers could manage only six hits against the Giants pitching staff. Prince Fielder did get another RBI to bring his total to 121 tops in the majors. It seems the Brewers just cannot put things together offensively and pitching at the same time and that is killing them. Timely hits never seem to come and the bullpen continues to blow games. I guess 2009 is just a season that Brewers fans will want to forget as soon as possible. I know I sure do.
