Brewers Should Continue To Be Good Offensively

facebooktwitterreddit

The Milwaukee Brewers achilles heel last year was pitching and hopefully they have done enough to shore that up. The one area in 2010 the Brewers should be good again is scoring runs. With the looks of the 2010 lineup scoring should not be a problem for the Brewers.  Let’s take a closer look at the fielding positions and how we stack up.

Catchers
Gregg Zaun
George Kottaras, Matt Treanor, Jonathan Lucroy or Angel Salome

Here I would have chosen to have Jason Kendall back, but he is in Kansas City. The Brewers went out and signed Gregg Zaun who should do an decent job for the Brewers. I really do not expect great numbers out of this group. Anything we get from them will be an added plus.

Infielders
1B Prince Fielder
2B Rickie Weeks
3B Casey McGehee or Mat Gamel
SS Alcides Escobar
Reserves Craig Counsell and Adam Heether

The infield I really like a lot as we will have Rickie Weeks back along with Alcides Escobar all season long. Prince Fielder should have another great year and I am interested to see what kind of numbers Casey McGehee can put up. Having Craig Counsell and Mat Gamel available is something I really like.

Outfielders
LF Ryan Braun
CF Carlos Gomez
RF Corey Hart
Reserves Jody Gerut and Trent Oeltjen

As far as the outfield goes it should be very interesting.  Ryan Braun will do a good job, but Gomez and Hart will be the unknowns. Corey Hart was hurt last year and Carlos Gomez is really unproven. Personally, I would like to see Jody Gerut in the outfield as well. He proved last year he can get the job done and is also a very good hitter as well.
