Well sometimes I do not understand what goes through Doug Melvin’s head or what he is thinking by some of the people he has signed as GM. According to different sources he has signed outfielder Jim Edmonds to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. It looks like he will be given a chance to make the club and who knows what can happen after that.
Edmonds was a good player in his prime, but he is past that. When Melvin had a chance to sign Kenny Lofton a few years back who was still a base threat and good outfielder he passed. Now he gives Jim Edmonds a one year contract with a spring training invite. Really makes no sense to me at all, but I guess we will see how this works out. I just feel there are plenty of other players who could help the Brewers more, but of course I am sure Melvin could not get them as cheap either.
