In Case You Missed It: Chris Dickerson Can Throw

Chris Dickerson finds himself fighting to make the opening day roster.  Well, he had an amazing day at the plate on Saturday and his abilities in the field can not be questioned after this throw.  If you have not seen it, prepare yourself.  Please follow this link to watch his unbelievable throw to keep the game tied at 6-6.  The first time I saw this throw was on SportsCenter Top Plays (#6).  This throw is so perfect.  Mike Rivera does an excellent job of blocking the plate.  I guarantee you that Roenicke will consider that throw when he gives his final rose at the end of March.

In Game News

  • Yesterday the Crew ended the game in a tie, 6-6, with the Hollywood Dodgers.  Thanks mostly to the amazing throw that is linked above, by Chris Dickerson.  Dickerson also had a terrific day at the plate, going 3 for 5 with 2 RBI’s.

  • In today’s news.  Chris Narveson got absolutely blasted by Cincy.  RR let him throw 4 plus innings, giving up 7 runs on 9 hits.  That aside, the Brewers lost to the Reds 8-9.  George Kottaras knocked in 4 runs, inlcuding a 3-run homer.

Injury Watch 2011

  1.  Shaun Marcum – He is going to be fine.  Taking a few days off to be cautious.  sounds like nothing we need to be terribly concerned with.

  2.  Manny Parra – Started playing catch late this week.  After the session, he said that he was still hoping to be ready to start the season.

  3.  Mark DiFelice – The only batter he faced, hit a line drive straight into his pitching hand.  He suffered a contusion on his ring finger, but is none the worse for wear.

  4.  Zack Greinke – On Friday, John Schlegel of MLB.com, reported that Greinke’s April 16th target return date is “optimistic”.

If you missed the article from yesterday, please be sure to vote for who you think is the most deserving Opening Day bench warmers.  You can vote for up to 3 different players.

Congratulations to UW-Madison and Marquette for impressive victories this weekend.  Best of luck to them in their respective Sweet 16 games.  Wisconsin state sports dominance marches on.  Brewers are next in line!!!!!!  Most of you will read this on Monday, so I am really sorry it is Monday.
