Aramis Ramirez is ready.

At least that’s what he told Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.

In January, the Brewers’ third baseman underwent surgery to remove a benign polyp from his colon. Because of this procedure, Ramirez has yet to participate in a spring training game.

According to McCalvy, Ramirez ran the bases without any problems on Friday and said he plans to play on Saturday when the Brewers face the Royals at Maryvale Park.

Opening Day is still 24 days away and Ramirez will focus on getting into playing shape before then.

I just have to get in playing shape. I’m going to try to avoid [sliding]. Hopefully, I don’t have to, but I’m [trying to] totally avoid sliding here. Sometimes your instincts take over, but I’m going to try to be smart about it.

In 2013, a season derailed by knee injuries, Ramirez hit .283 with 12 home runs and 49 RBI in 92 games.
