The Milwaukee Brewers used their first round pick, 12th overall, to draft left-handed pitcher Kodi Medeiros. Medeiros becomes the first Hawaiian high schooler to go in the first two rounds of the draft since 2001. The 18 year-old gained national prominence with talent evaluators while pitching at Waiakea high school in Hilo, Hawaii this past season. Though some scouts refer to him as “small in stature” Medeiros possess a fastball that repeatedly hits the mid nineties with a plus slider and a decent change-up.
Brewers officials were impressed with Medeiros during his workout at Miller Park last week, reportedly hitting 97 mph.
