Milwaukee Brewers: Khris Davis to the Disabled List

The Milwaukee Brewers just cannot buy a break. Just when it looked like they were going to finally get healthy with the return of Jonathan Lucroy approaching, Khris Davis went down with a knee injury in today’s loss and all indications are that he will be heading to the disabled list.

Though the team will be fine in the outfield with Gerrado Parra ready to step in and start, they will certainly miss Davis’ power bat in the middle of the lineup. Many knock Davis for his defense, but since the second half of 2013 he has been the Brewers biggest power threat. This season though he has batted just just .252 through the first two months, he has shown a marked improvement in his patience at the plate, already walking 19 times in his first 45 games. He heads to the DL at a time that his bat has just started to heat up. Over the past week Davis has not only homered twice, but he also has been able to raise his batting average nearly 30 points. Team beat writer Tom Haudricourt’s tweet clearly shows Davis’ frustration with both the Brewers season and his injury.

Tyler Wagner will take his place on the roster to make tomorrow’s start, but more roster changes could be on the way soon. In the mist of a seven game losing streak, the Brewers will look to salvage a game of the series playing again short handed. Though the team has provided little to cheer about this season, Wagner’s major league debut will be something to look forward to for tomorrow’s game.
