Though two teams are well out of the race, the National League Central continues to have some of the best baseball in the entire league. Here is a look at how the teams are faring after nine weeks.

5. Milwaukee Brewers

Although the Milwaukee Brewers are fully out of the race, it has been a very interesting week filled with roster moves in Milwaukee. The Brewers saw a successful debut from pitcher Tyler Cravy in a loss and the addition of Hernan Perez. After an awesome five inning relief outing last Sunday, Matt Garza was great again in his Saturday start. Even though they lost a tough series against the Cardinals, they were able to finish the week strong with a series win against the first place Minnesota Twins.

This upcoming week the Brewers continue a tough stretch by starting the week with a three game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates and then they come home for a four game match-up against the Washington Nationals.

4. Cincinnati Reds

Another week and two more series losses for the Reds. They started the week losing two of three to the lowly Phillies and then closed it out by losing two of three to the Padres. Like the Brewers, the Reds saw a pitcher make his debut as Jon Moscot took the loss in his Saturday debut.

This upcoming week the Reds will battle the Phillies again for another three-game match-up and then close out the week in Chicago with a four game battle against the Cubs.

3. Chicago Cubs

The Cubs took a step back at the start of the week as they lost two out of three to the Marlins, but they were able to finish the week with a bang by winning three of four against the Washington Nationals. With inter-league match-ups approaching, it could finally be time to see the return of Javy Baez.

Starting Tuesday the Cubs head to Detroit for a two game series with the Tigers before heading back home to square-off against the Reds.

2. Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pirates again had themselves a great week. After sweeping the Giants to start the week, they won two of three against the Atlanta Braves. With the nine win Gerrit Cole atop the rotation, the Pirates may have the best pitcher in baseball.

On paper the Pirates have two great match-ups this upcoming week. First they battle the Milwaukee Brewers for three before taking on the Phillies to end the week.

1. St. Louis Cardinals

Another week in and the Cardinals have remained on top of the Central. Not only were they able to take down the Brewers in a three game series, but they were able to win two of their first three against the first place Los Angeles Dodgers.

They start this next week out west against the Colorado Rockies before coming home to take on the tough Royals to finish the week.
