Milwaukee Brewers’ Michael Reed’s Promotion Well Deserved

There was a lot of fallout after all of the trades in the past few days. The Milwaukee Brewers’ minor league system was greatly expanded and upgraded. Because of all additions the Biloxi Shuckers’ roster looks significantly different. With so many new additions, Michael Reed has earned a well deserved call-up to AAA Colorado Springs.

In 93 games this year at AA, Reed has put together his best season as a professional. Playing on a Biloxi team that was filled with all-stars, Reed was a Southern League South starter in the game. Being fully healthy for the first time in years, Reed has been one of the best bats in the league.

At the time of the promotion, Reed was batting .278 with a .379 OBP and a .801 OPS. While his patient eye has helped him to be among league leaders in walks and OBP, his ability to find gaps has helped him to be among leaders in both total bases and OPS.

Reed isn’t projected to be a star and is in a system that is now filled with high-upside outfielders rated in front of him and behind him, but with a patient approach and a strong arm, he still could find his way on a major league roster soon, even if it would be as a fourth outfielder. He has fully done everything to earn this first promotion this season and with eyes towards the future, here is to hoping that a final promotion happens for him in the near future.
