Garza Responds to Media at Brewers On Deck

As Brewers On Deck is under way and fans look forward to meeting their favorite stars like Ryan Braun and up and comers like Brett Phillips and Clint Coulter, a player seemed to come out of hiding that had questions knocking on the door as he didn’t end the 2015 season so well. Matt Garza spoke to the media for only 12 minutes and here are some tweets from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Todd Rosiak:
Overriding theme from Garza: “This is the first year I’m going to pitch selfishly. I’m going to pitch for me."

Garza also said he left the Brewers after being taken out of the rotation because his pregnant wife had been bedridden for 8 weeks.

When asked about his comments after being pulled from the rotation, Garza said, "If someone told you they were taking your job away…"

“...would you just accept it or fight it? That wasn’t why I went home."

Garza said he had a productive conversation with GM David Stearns about the way last year ended. "It’s in the past. It’s over…."

"...If I’m pissed off about it, it’s my own fault. That’s a year ago.” Garza said he’s on good terms with manager Craig Counsell as well.

He ended the season going 6-14 along with a 5.63 ERA in 148 IP. Fans hope for a Matt Garza of 2014 as he went 8-8 with a 3.64 ERA in 163 IP. Brewers fans know Garza is quite the character and will have some interesting comments no matter what happens in the 2016 season.
