Almost upon us is the day that Brewers fans have been looking forward to all winter: Minor league opening day!  I kid, I kid, but opening day for the Brewers high A affiliate is almost upon us, and that means that some of the Brewers exciting young prospects will get to see official action.  Opening day for the Brevard County Manatees is Friday, April 8.

The Manatees will try to build off last season when they went 26-40 in the first half of the season and 29-40 in the second half of the season for a full season record of 55-80.  The 2015 club featured very few of the Brewers top prospects, with the biggest names being Clint Coulter, Victor Roache, Wei-Chung Wang, and Jorge Ortega.  The official roster for 2016 has yet to be announced, but should feature a bigger selection of top prospects than last season with guys like Devin Williams and Kodi Medeiros expected to receive promotions.  They should also get some mid season reinforcements as people get promoted from the Timber Rattlers.

More from Reviewing the Brew

Managing the Manatees is Joe Ayrault in his fifth year as manager.  The pitching coach for the third year running is Dave Chavarria.  Also, coaching is a familiar name, Ned Yost IV, the son of former Brewers manager and current Royals manager Ned Yost.

Each week this season I will be bringing you game results, current news and highlight performances from the prior week.  Look for the official 2016 roster announcement in the coming days.
