Another week of games in the books, and another tough stretch of games for the Milwaukee Brewers A+ affiliate: the Brevard County Manatees.

It was a winless week for the Milwaukee Brewers affiliate, the Brevard County Manatees in what continues to be a tough season for the club.  The club went 0-5 this week, though at least the majority of their games were competitive.  Here is the week in review for the Brevard County Manatees:

4/22 at Clearwater: L 1-2

Brandon Woodruff started the game for the Manatees and gave up 1 run over 4 innings.  Josh Uhen relieved him and gave up 1 unearned run over 3 innings before giving way to Junior Rincon for the final inning.  The offense was led by CF Johnny Davis, who was 2-4 on the night and scored the lone run.

4/23 at Clearwater: L 1-6

Angel Ventura started for the Manatees and gave up 5 runs in his 4 innings of work.  He was relieved by Clint Terry and then Kender Villegas, who each went 2 innings with Terry giving up 1 run.  SS Angel Ortega led an offensive assault by going 3-5.  The Manatees actually outhit Clearwater 11-8 during the game despite losing by 5.

4/24 at Clearwater: L 2-5

Kodi Medeiros, still trying to find his way through advanced A ball, got roughed up again for 4 runs in 4.2 innings.  He was followed by 3 relievers, but the damage had already been done.  The offensive player of the game was 2B George Iskenderian who went 2-4.

4/26 vs Lakeland: L 0-3

Eric Hanhold started off the game by going 4 innings and giving up 2 runs.  Zach Hirsch followed by giving up 1 run in 3 innings.  Rincon followed that up with 2 scoreless innings.  3B Jose Cuas and RF Clint Coulter were both 1-3 on the day.

4/27 vs Lakeland: L 6-7

Bubba Derby had his first rough outing as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers organization, going 4 innings and giving up 6 runs (4 earned).  He was followed up by scoreless outing from Uhen and Terry before Tyler Spurlin gave up 1 run in 2.1 innings.  The offense was led again by Johnny Davis going 3-5.

The batting average leader on the season remains Angel Ortega at .351, and nobody else is within 80 points of him.  Brandon Woodruff remains the ERA leader among starters, with a 1.71 ERA on the season.  The Manatees are about to play as I write this, so here’s hoping they can turn things around and start to win some game and improve on that 3-17 record.
