The Milwaukee Brewers A+ affiliate, the Brevard County Manatees, had another rough week.

The Milwaukee Brewers High-A affiliate, the Brevard County Manatees, went in the wrong direction this week by going 1-5.  Here’s a look at how they got to that mark:

5/16 vs. Bradenton: L 5-7

Jon Perrin started and gave up two runs in the 4th and then two more runs in the 5th without getting an out to finish with 4+ innings and four runs.  The Milwaukee Brewers affiliate came back with a four-run 8th to tie the game before Josh Uhen gave up two runs in the 9th.  The offense was led by OF Johnny Davis, 1B Dustin DeMuth and C Dustin Houle, who each went 2-4.

5/17 vs. Bradenton: Postponed to 5/18

5/18 Game 1 vs. Bradenton: W 3-2

Eric Hanhold delivered a solid outing by going 5.1 innings giving up two runs (1 earned).  Johnny Davis again had a solid day offensively by going 2-3 with an RBI.

5/18 Game 2 vs. Bradenton: L 0-8

Bubba Derby got roughed up a little bit and wound up going 3.1 innings and giving up four runs.  Johnny Davis carried over a strong performance from game one by going 1-2 with a walk.

5/20 at Jupiter: L 0-2

Clint Terry started a game for the first time and went five innings giving up two runs.  SS Angel Ortega had the best day offensively by going 2-4.

5/21 at Jupiter: L 0-2

Jon Perrin took the tough-luck loss in this one after going seven innings and giving up two runs (1 earned).  OF Elvis Rubio had a nice night hitting 3-4, but the offense couldn’t muster any run support.

5/22 at Jupiter: L 3-13

Kodi Medeiros had a rough outing for the Milwaukee Brewers affiliate by going 1.2 innings and giving up eight runs (5 earned).  Dustin DeMuth did his best to keep the offense going by hitting 2-4 with a run and 3 RBI.

On the year, Johnny Davis is still leading the team in batting with an average of .317, but Elvis Rubio is gaining after bumping his average to .306.

Brandon Woodruff was promoted to AA, so the new starter with the best ERA is Eric Hanhold, who is 2-4 with a 2.57 ERA in 8 starts.

Tyler Spurlin continues to be solid out of the bullpen and now has a 1.69 ERA on the year to go along with four saves.  Here’s hoping they can turn things around next week as the Milwaukee Brewers affiliate has struggled in recent weeks.
