Milwaukee Brewers: Minor League Review – April 4th

Triple-A

San Antonio Missions (1-0) vs. Oklahoma City Dodgers (0-1)

The Missions jumped on Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw early and lead the whole game taking game one 5-3.

Outfielder Tyrone Taylor, 29th ranked prospect, opened the scoring with a solo home run in the second, his only hit of the game. Top prospect Keston Hiura went 2-5 with a triple, two RBIs and three strikeouts. Outfielder Troy Stokes Jr. 13th ranked prospect, went 2-3 with a walk and a run. Catcher Jacob Nottingham, 16th ranked, was 2-4 with an RBI. Infielder Jake Hager had a pinch hit triple, scoring two runs while Nate Orf came off the bench to go 2-2, collecting a stolen base.

Pitcher Adrian Houser, 15th ranked, went five strong innings, striking out six, while giving up one hit. Deolis Guerra picked up the win and Josh Fields picked up the save. The only pitcher that ran into trouble was Jake Petricka, who blew the save giving up two runs in two innings.

Double-A

Biloxi Shuckers (0-0) vs. Birmingham Barons (0-0) – Postponed

The rain won today… opening night has been rescheduled for tomorrow.

Class A Advanced

Carolina Mudcats (0-1) vs. Down East Wood Ducks (1-0)

The Wood Ducks, Class A affiliate of the Texas Rangers got the win against the Mudcats 6-4 on opening night.

Mudcats starting pitcher Bowden Francis had eight strikeouts in four innings. Matt Smith, struck out five but picked up the loss after giving up two runs in the seventh innings.

Outfielder Joantgel Segovia collected three hits and a run batted in. First Baseman Ryan Aguilar was 2-4.

Outfielder Tristen Lutz, Fourth ranked prospect in the organization, went 0-3 with a walk and a run batted in.

Class A

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (1-0) vs. Beloit Snappers (0-1)

Rattlers put up six unanswered runs to beat Beloit 6-1.

Pitcher Scott Sunitsch picked up the win, going five innings, allowing just one run on six hits and struck out five. The Rattlers pitched combined to strike out 13 Snappers while giving up just seven total hits.

Third ranked prospect, shortstop Brice Turang, was 2-3 with two walks and scored two runs. Catcher David Fry was 3-5 with two runs and an RBI. First Baseman Chad McClanahan drove in two runs.

23rd ranked prospect, outfielder Je’Von Ward, was 1-5 with a run scored.

Rookie Ball

Sit back by the bonfire, cook another s’more and relax, the Rocky Mountain Vibes don’t kick off the season until June 14th. The Milwaukee Brewers new rookie affiliate is their former Triple-A team in Colorado Springs.
