Milwaukee Brewers: Adrian Houser looks strong for Missions in win

There were more fireworks for the Missions as they lead a 2-2 day for the Milwaukee Brewers affiliates on April 14th.

Triple-A

San Antonio Missions (7-4) vs. Nashville Sound (3-8)

Sunday was another Tyler Saladino show for the Missions as they took game three of the four game series with the Sounds 5-4.

Saladino was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a run and a triple. After a slow start, Saladino is hitting .294 with an OPS of 1.179.

Milwaukee Brewers top prospects Keston Hiura and Mauricio Dubon each had RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth. Hiura is hitting .293 with a .970 OPS in 10 games this season.

Adrian Houser had another great outing, going 5 1/3 innings allowing two runs on five hits and striking out six. In two starts he has a 1.10 ERA and 12 strike outs. Deolis Guerra gave up two runs in his two innings of work, before getting pulled for the trio of Donnie Hart, Michael Tonkin, and Jay Jackson who struck out four in the last 1 2/3 innings.

Missions finish their series with the Sounds tomorrow afternoon.

Double-A

Biloxi Shuckers (5-5) vs. Montgomery Biscuits (5-4)

Biloxi led early and then surrendered five unanswered runs losing the series finale 5-3.

Alec Bettinger went 5 1/3 innings allowing just three runs while striking out eight in the no decision. Devin Williams picked up the loss after giving up the go ahead runs on a Tristan Gray home run in the bottom of the eighth.

Trent Grisham found his stroke, going 2-for-4 with a two-RBI double in the second inning. Dillon Thomas was 3-for-4 and has a team high .417 batting average with a 1.292 OPS. Michael O’Neill also collected three hits and scored a run. Cooper Hummel drove in his fourth run of the year with a single to right field in the third that played C.J. Hinojosa.

The Shuckers return home tomorrow to open a five game series against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

Class A Advanced

Carolina Mudcats (6-5) vs. Wilmington Blue Rocks (8-3)

No one is happier to see the Blue Rocks leave town than Mudcat fans. The good guys dropped the series finale by a score of 5-1 after being out scored 20-10 over the weekend.

Five Mudcats recorded a hit today, including doubles for first baseman Ryan Aguilar and outfielder Rob Henry. The only Mudcat to score was third baseman Dallas Carroll who was driven in on Henry’s double in the fourth.

Starting pitcher Christian Taugner gave up four runs on three Blue Rock home runs. The other run came on a wild pitch by J.T. HintzenMatt Hardy made his fifth appearance of the season, going two scoreless innings and striking out two.

The Mudcats welcome the Fayetteville Woodpeckers for a five game series starting Monday.

Class A

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (5-5) vs. Quad City River Bandits (6-4)

The Rattlers enjoyed a good win today as they closed out the series with the Quad City River Bandits by a final score of 6-3.

The Rattlers collected eight hits, including doubles by David Fry, former Milwaukee Brewers first rounder Brice Turang, and Je’Von Ward. Fry finished the game 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two walks. Turang and Ward were 1-for-4 with an RBI a piece. Chad McClanahan finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a walk.

Justin Bullock got his first victory of the season going five innings allowing a run on just two hits. He struck out four while walking two. Adam Hill pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief giving up two runs. Peter Strzelecki got the save after shutting down Quad City the last 1 2/3 innings.

Tomorrow the TimberRattlers start a three game series with the Beloit Snappers.
