Three of the Milwaukee Brewers’ minor league teams were in action on Wednesday. However, only the Double-A team was able to come away victorious.

Triple-A

The 22-17 San Antonio Missions had the day off on Wednesday and decided to use it to get more familiar with some of their aquatic friends.

The Milwaukee Brewers Triple-A affiliate will resume play on Thursday at home against the 21-18 Memphis Redbirds.

Double-A

Biloxi Shuckers (20-20) vs Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (14-26)

It was a Weston Wilson Wednesday matinee as the Shuckers third baseman hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to help propel his team to a 2-0 win over the Jumbo Shrimp. The win in the rubber match gave Biloxi a 3-2 series win over Jacksonville.

The game was scoreless until Wilson took a 3-1 pitch over the fence in left field for his tenth home run of the season, the first Shucker to reach double digits in homers this year. Robie Rojas added an RBI-single the following and that was all the offense Biloxi would need.

Bowden Francis had quite the start, holding Jacksonville scoreless over six innings while giving up just two hits and two walks and striking out eight. Cody Ponce, Daniel Brown, and Luke Barker, who collected his second save of the series, combined to finish the shutout by giving up just two more hits and striking out three.

Class A Advanced

Carolina Mudcats (22-16) vs Lynchburg Hillcats (19-17)

Lynchburg scored six unanswered runs to take the lead and Carolina was unable to answer back as they dropped Wednesday night’s decision 4-6.

Things looked good early for the Milwaukee Brewers High-A affiliate when they took an early 2-0 lead on an run-scoring double from Payton Henry and an RBI groundout by Mario Feliciano. They extended the lead to 4-0 in the fifth on Joantgel Segovia‘s one-run single immediately followed by Ryan Aguilar grounding into a fielder’s choice which also scored a run.

The Hillcats rallied though and scored six runs over the next three innings to jump out in front. Meanwhile the Mudcats only managed one hit the rest of the game and couldn’t complete the comeback.

Noah Zavolas gave up more than two earned runs for the first time all year, surrendering four as well as ten hits over six innings of work. Segovia led the team in hits on the night, going 3-for-5. Tristen Lutz pushed his hitting streak to nine games with a first inning single.

Class A

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (17-19) vs Kane County Cougars (22-17)

The Timber Rattlers entered the bottom of the tenth hoping to pull off a comeback. Unfortunately they were only able to get one of the two runs they needed and suffered a 5-6 defeat at the hands of the Cougars.
