Last week we looked at the most unlikable players around the league. Today, we highlight some of our favorites that no longer sport a Brewers uniform, but they still hold a special place in our hearts.

Whether these players showed a knack of coming through in the clutch or just played with joy that ended up being contagious, it hurt to see them leave but you always wished the best for them.

So let’s get right into the list of our fan favorite former Brewers.

Likable Former Brewer #1: Jesus Aguilar

Perhaps one of the most likable guys in the game, Brewers fans were spoiled to be able to root for Jesus Aguilar. He’s like a big teddy bear but possesses a vicious swing. One of the better power hitters in Milwaukee in the last decade, Aguilar hit 59 home runs in his time with the Crew from 2017-2019 and was named an All-Star in 2018. He was one of the major reasons the Brewers won the NL Central that year.

Jesus Aguilar has one of those personalities that just bursts through whatever screen you’re watching him on and seeing him happy brings you the same sense of joy. His smile is infectious and his love for the game of baseball is second to none. From the lighthearted antics with his teammates to the heartful interviews showing his love and appreciation towards the fans….he is truly one of a kind.

Enjoy him in all his glory.

Likable Former Brewer #2: Mike Moustakas

Caution: Moose Crossing.

Mike Moustakas was the definition of clutch. After a big hit, the rain down of MOOOOOOOOSE is like a glorious symphony. Mike Moustakas embraced the move to Milwaukee and Brewer fans returned the favor. Moose has some of his best years in MLB with the Crew. A .255/.328.496 slash line with 43 home runs and 120 RBI’s along with an All-Star appearance and a huge hand in helping the Brewers clinch a postseason berth in both seasons he was in Milwaukee.

Mike Moustakas was never the guy to make it all about him. His non-flashy nature was apparent but that didn’t take away from his success. His big moment came on October 4, 2018 when the Brewers were playing their first postseason game since 2011. In an 0-2 count, Moose just got a piece of a 96 mph heater from Adam Ottavino that squirted out of the glove of Tony Wolters. And on the next pitch, this iconic moment happened.

A true professional, Mike Moustakas should always hold a special place in Brewers fans’ hearts.

Likable Former Brewer #3: Orlando Arcia

Well if we’re on the topic of clutch hitters with the Brewers in big moments, we can’t leave out Orlando Arcia. While his days leading up to his departure from the team weren’t his best, that’s not how he deserves to be remembered. Remember him for making the spectacular defensive plays look routine, remember him for the vicious swings that would send baseballs into orbit, he truly is a man that should be celebrated for his contributions with the Crew.

And outside of the actual game of baseball, nobody had more fun than Orlando Arcia. He had the joking nature that Jesus Aguilar had. It was like he played every game as it was his last with the dab celebration when rounding 3rd base with Ed Sedar after a home run to being on the top step to congratulate whoever else just came across to score.

He comes to mind as one of those players that just continued to make your jaw drop in the things he did as a Brewer. A bunting double to score two runners against the Pirates, a no-doubt inside the park home run against the Padres and all those times where he was called upon to deliver. Here are a few of our favorites.

Likable Former Brewer #4: Brett Phillips

I think it would suffice if I just put in videos of Brett Phillips laughing. But we’ll save that for the end….so please do yourself a favor and stick around for the best video to ever grace the internet at the end.

I will venture to say it is IMPOSSIBLE to dislike Brett Phillips. I don’t care if you’re a Dodgers fan that saw him hit a walk-off against your team in the World Series, the man is just naturally likable. While he was only a Brewer for 52 games, the positive impacts and relationships he made with people was amazing. Some of his best moments off the field came when he was with Milwaukee and seeing the smiles that he brought to people’s faces was unmatched.

On the field, one memory that will live with him forever is his game-winning hit in the World Series. Even at that moment though, he does it and then celebrates with an epic “airplane” motion that was recreated by so many after it happened. His personality is so effortless and his smile lights up the room.

While he’s encountered some tough seasons as of late, you have to think a guy like that will get it together and find a way to be successful at this level. And whether he is or isn’t successful, Brewers fans should always wish him the best.

Here’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for.

While this may have seemed some sort of eulogy at times for these guys, it’s not meant to get that deep but these players have left that sort of impact with Brewer fans. Sure we could just name some of the best players that have moved on to other teams, but there are always those fan favorites and it’s a great time to acknowledge some of those guys.
