As we sit in a lockout where MLB teams aren’t able to use the names, images, or likenesses of their players on their website or in promotions, the Brewers reveal of their 2022 bobblehead schedule was a little different this time around.

Typically, when the Brewers announce their bobblehead giveaway schedule, it includes the names of the players that there will be bobbleheads of. That way, everyone knows what bobblehead they will get on that day and can plan their tickets accordingly, with the bobblehead they want.

But, the lockout has changed that, at least for the time being. The Brewers announced the dates of their bobblehead giveaways, but did not tell us who the bobbles would be of.

What days do the Milwaukee Brewers give out bobbleheads in 2022?

  • Sunday, May 22nd
  • Sunday, June 5th
  • Sunday, June 26th
  • Sunday, July 10th
  • Sunday, July 24th
  • Sunday, August 7th
  • Sunday, September 11th

The first five dates were all just listed as “Player bobblehead” since the team can’t use the names of their players because of the dispute between MLB and the players’ union. It’s likely the Brewers know who the bobbleheads will be of, but they just can’t tell us.

The only one where we do know who the bobblehead is of is the giveaway on August 7th. That one is a Robin Yount 1980s replica jersey. However, it’s not clear if it’s a 1980’s uniform painted on a Yount bobblehead, or if they’re just giving away a jersey and there is no bobblehead at all. That part was pretty confusing in the press release.

It’s interesting that the first bobblehead giveaway happens in late May, as opposed to early April, when they usually have their first big giveaway. However, with the lockout still in full swing and not looking like it’s going to end anytime soon, the beginning of the season may be delayed. If that happens, the Brewers aren’t going to want to lose an all-fan giveaway date and have to reschedule it, so they are simply not scheduling any until later.

The final bobblehead date, September 11th is listed as “TBD”, so they don’t know what that’ll be of yet, but I have an idea. September 11th this year will be the one year anniversary of the Corbin BurnesJosh Hader combined no-hitter, and a bobblehead commemorating that would be the perfect choice for the final giveaway of the season.

As for who the other bobbleheads will be of, I would assume there’s going to be at least one for Corbin Burnes, celebrating his Cy Young award he won last season. Willy Adames is also probably going to get a bobblehead day, and the first giveaway on May 22nd would be the perfect date for that since that was the day he joined the Brewers last season.

I could also see there being bobblehead days for Brandon Woodruff, Freddy Peralta, Kolten Wong, Omar Narvaez, and Luis Urias. It can’t be all these players because I listed more ideas than there are bobblehead dates, but those are the likeliest candidates.

Once the lockout ends, the Brewers will be able to tell us who will be on these bobbles, but until then, at least we know the dates that there will be giveaways.
