Going into the 2022 season, some wondered whether Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez would be able to continue the production he put up after the team traded for him part way through last season. For the most part, he has delivered.

In 105 games, Tellez is slashing .239/.324/.484 for Milwaukee while leading all Brewers players with 71 RBIs. He also is now the team’s leader in home runs after a dramatic, game-tying homer in the bottom of the 9th inning on Wednesday, a game that resulted in a win and season sweep over the Tampa Bay Rays.

The team’s home run race has mostly been a battle between Tellez and shortstop Willy Adames with outfielder Hunter Renfroe looming large. Tellez’s homer on Wednesday, though, broke a tie between him and Adames as the bit first baseman slugged his 23rd of the 2022 season.

Generally, when Tellez hits homers, he hits them far as his 407 feet of average home run distance is the third longest mark on the team. With an average distance like that, the longest of his bombs must have gone awfully far, right? Well, let’s take a look.

Here are the five longest home runs of Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez’s 2022 season so far.

Longest homer #5: April 10th vs Cubs – 424 feet

Tellez’s fifth longest homer of the season (technically it’s tied for fourth) also happens to be the first homer he hit all season. It came in the team’s first series of the season on the road against the Cubs. It gave the Crew their first lead of the game, one they eventually won 5-4 to put Milwaukee in the win column for the first time in 2022.

Longest homer #4: April 19th vs Pirates – 424 feet

Lo and behold, Tellez’s second homer of the season nine days later went the same distance as his first. It was a two-run shot in the second inning to open the scoring that day, a day that saw the Brewers pull out a 5-2 victory over Pittsburgh at home.

Longest homer #3: May 4th vs Reds – 431 feet

May 4th was a big day for Tellez as he went 4-for-6 with a new team record eight RBIs. As part of that offensive barrage, he hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to continue breaking open a game the team ultimately won 18-4. And that wasn’t even the most impressive part of his day….

Longest homer #2: August 5th vs Reds – 432 feet

The Brewers needed some good mojo after they followed a rough and puzzling trade deadline with a road sweep by the Pirates. They temporarily got some in a win over the Reds that saw Tellez kick off the scoring with a two-run bomb in the bottom of the first inning.

Longest homer #1: May 4th vs Reds – 453 feet

Remember that 18-4 win we mentioned earlier? Tellez actually had another homer in that game and it was as exciting as it gets. The Brewers slugger hit a towering grand slam in the 3rd inning, giving the Crew the lead for good and clocking in as his longest bomb of the 2022 season so far.

Barring anything extremely unexpected happening, there will be more Tellez homers to come in 2022. It would be impressive if any of them end up travelling farther than these five.
