3 Brewers prospects who just earned a golden opportunity after the trade deadline

At this year's MLB trade deadline, the Milwaukee Brewers parted ways with two players from their major league roster and four prospects from their minor league system. Outfielder Blake Perkins and reliever Craig Yoho were both traded off the 40-man roster, while the organization dealt minor league outfielders Alexander Frias and Josiah Ragsdale, shortstop prospect Juan Martinez, and Triple-A reliever Mark Manfredi from their farm system.

While much of the attention has been rightfully focused on how Milwaukee's deadline acquisitions, catcher Bo Naylor and right-handed pitchers Dustin May and Antonio Senzatela and southpaw JoJo Romero, will impact the major league club, those trades also create ripple effects throughout the minor league system. Josh Adamczewski has a chance to cement himself a key piece of the Brewers' future outfield

One player whose name surfaced frequently in trade rumors this season was Josh Adamczewski, the Brewers' No. 5 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. The former 15th-round pick out of high school began his career as an infielder but has primarily played left field this season. Perhaps fueling his increased interest from other organizations is the fact that he has also taken a significant step forward in the power department, launching 16 home runs between High-A and Double-A after hitting just five in 71 games last season.

Impressively, he has added that power without sacrificing the rest of his offensive game. He is hitting .320 with a .434 on-base percentage, numbers that remain on par with the production he showed at the lower levels of the minors. With Frias and Ragsdale no longer in the organization, Adamczewski has a clearer path to becoming a homegrown Brewers big-league outfielder.

Braylon Payne should be promoted to Double-A to replace Josiah Ragsdale

Another young Brewers outfielder enjoying a power breakout this season is Braylon Payne. The organization's first-round pick in 2024, Payne recently made franchise history by setting a new Wisconsin Timber Rattlers single-season home run record with 23 long balls.

With just over a month of games left in the minor leagues, now is the time for Payne to get his feet wet in Double-A. The loss of Ragsdale opens that door for a spot in the outfield, and slugger Blake Burke is heading to Triple-A, meaning Payne should come up to offer an offensive boost for the Biloxi Shuckers' postseason run.

Blake Holub has a better chance at making the 40-man roster this offseason after Mark Manfredi was traded

Although Milwaukee parted ways with Rule 5 Draft-eligible pitcher Mark Manfredi at the trade deadline, the 26-year-old left-hander likely would have been high on the organization's list of players to evaluate for a 40-man roster spot this offseason. Manfredi has always shown an ability to miss bats, striking out 68 hitters over 45.2 innings before the trade, but inconsistent command has remained an issue.

With Manfredi now a member of the Colorado Rockies' organization, Blake Holub could have a stronger case for a 40-man roster spot. The Brewers acquired Holub during the 2023 offseason in the Mark Canha trade with the Tigers, and he has put together a strong 2026 campaign, posting a 2.32 ERA over 42.2 innings out of the Triple-A Nashville Sounds' bullpen. His strikeout numbers are more modest, with 51 on the season, but Manfredi's departure removes one of the potential competitors for a roster spot this offseason and could give Holub a clearer path forward.
