The Milwaukee Brewers’ farm system is quietly stockpiling intriguing talent, and the early months of 2025 are revealing some names worth watching. While headliners like Luis Peña and Jesús Made are drawing well-deserved attention, several less-heralded prospects are carving out compelling storylines of their own.

Let’s take a look at some players who are making strong cases to climb the organizational ladder — and perhaps even factor into Milwaukee’s future plans.

3 undervalued Brewers prospects making surprising early impacts

C - Marco Dinges

A fourth-round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, Marco Dinges has wasted no time making his presence felt. As a member of the ultra-talented Single-A Carolina Mudcats — a roster featuring names like Jesús Made, Luis Peña, and Eric Bitonti — it would be easy for Dinges to get lost in the shuffle. Instead, he's making it extremely difficult to overlook him.

Through the opening stretch of the season, Dinges has quietly put together a standout performance, slashing .362/.500/.553 with one home run and 14 RBIs. His plate discipline and ability to drive the ball to all fields have drawn early praise, signaling a hitter whose approach is already more polished than most would expect for a first-year pro.

It’s not just the bat that makes Dinges intriguing. His defensive versatility — splitting time between catcher and the outfield — offers the Brewers an added layer of value. Still early in his professional journey, Dinges is already flashing the tools, mindset, and production that suggest he could eventually carve out a path to the major leagues.

On Monday afternoon, Dinges was named the Carolina League Player of the Week for the week of April 21-27. In six games against the Columbia Fireflies last week, Dinges posted a .471 AVG, a 1.271 OPS, and collected 7 RBI. He joins Josh Adamczewski as the second Mudcat to win Player of the Week in 2025.

RHP - Tyson Hardin

Currently headlining the pitching staff for Milwaukee’s High-A affiliate, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 23-year-old Tyson Hardin is off to a blazing start in 2025. Sporting a 2-0 record with a sparkling 0.96 ERA and 20 strikeouts across 18.2 innings, Hardin is emerging as one of the system’s early breakout arms.

Hardin’s success starts with a punchy arsenal. The right-hander attacks hitters with a mid-to-high 90s mph fastball that he can elevate for strikeouts or pound the zone with authority. He complements his heater with a sharp sinker — a weapon that dives late and generates weak contact.

Hardin’s 2024 college season was a breakout in itself, posting a 3.22 ERA across 25 appearances and notching 36 strikeouts in 36.1 innings — numbers that caught the attention of the Brewers’ scouting department.

Now in pro ball, Hardin is translating those gains seamlessly. His growing confidence in commanding both sides of the plate, paired with his electric stuff, gives him a ceiling that could one day project him into a major-league bullpen — or even a starting rotation if he continues to develop his secondary pitches.

CF - Garrett Spain

Garrett Spain’s 2025 season hasn’t followed a straight path — but it’s one that’s showing encouraging signs of life. After struggling out of the gates with the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate in Nashville, slashing just .162/.256/.216, the 5’9" outfielder was demoted to Double-A Biloxi. Taking the demotion in stride, Spain has responded exactly how the organization would have hoped. With loud, competitive at-bats.

Since the move, Spain has reignited his offensive spark, slashing .261/.346/.609 over 11 games while racking up three home runs, eight RBIs, and three triples. The same sneaky pop that first drew the Brewers to him has been back on full display.

Originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 15th round in 2021, Spain was picked up by Milwaukee during the minor league phase of the 2024 Rule 5 Draft — a low-risk move with intriguing upside. His offensive track record has been streaky; after showing raw power in 2023 with 12 homers and 52 RBIs at High-A Vancouver, he stumbled in 2024 at Double-A New Hampshire, hitting just .167 across 102 games.

Despite the offensive volatility, Spain brings value on the defensive side of the ball. He's capable of manning all three outfield positions and boasts a strong arm, helping him remain a useful piece even when his bat goes silent.

At 24 years old, Spain’s window to carve out a major league future isn’t endless. But if he can continue tapping into his power while offering defensive versatility, he has the tools to stick around and possibly force his way into the Brewers’ depth plans down the road.

Prospect development is rarely a straight line, and for the Brewers, 2025 is already proving that patience and opportunity can yield positive results. Whether it’s Marco Dinges flashing two-way versatility, Tyson Hardin overpowering hitters with a sharpened arsenal, or Garrett Spain reigniting his offensive potential, these young players are giving Milwaukee reasons to believe in the depth of its next wave of prospects.
