Depth is a crucial piece to the success of any Major League Baseball team. Over the years, the Milwaukee Brewers have demonstrated this by usually having a good mixture of viable big league options, consisting of either up and coming prospects or veterans, waiting in the wings in the minor leagues.

Looking outside of the current 40-man roster, the Brewers 2025 depth plan looks like more of the same. On the prospect front, pitchers Jacob Misiorowski, Craig Yoho, and even KC Hunt will be awaiting phone calls to make their MLB debuts along with first base prospect Ernesto Martinez. From a veteran perspective, they currently have pitching options such as Bruce Zimmerman and Tyler Jay along with a familiar face in Jake Bauers.

Here, we take a further look at each of these seven players and why they may steal a roster spot, even if briefly, in 2025.

Seven Milwaukee Brewers players who may eventually steal a roster spot in 2025

RHP Jacob Misiorowski

Misiorowski has had big league stuff since he was drafted, but harnessing that big heater with his off-speed pitches and developing consistently with his mechanics has been a big focus over the past few years. 2025 should finally be the year that he cracks the big leagues and impacts the team. Long term, Milwaukee wants him to continue down the starter path, but depending upon the health of others he may be a bullpen option this year, much like Corbin Burnes was his rookie season.

RHP Craig Yoho

Last year Yoho pitched in High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A. His 0.94 ERA with 101 punch outs and 57.2 innings pitched during his first full professional season got him on everyone's radar. By now the word is out regarding his lethal changeup, but that doesn't mean that opposing batters will be able to hit it. Milwaukee will have him begin the year in the minor leagues, but he will be one of the first call up candidates when needed.

RHP KC Hunt

Hunt, a former Mississippi Bulldog whose time there did not match up with former Brewers first round pick Ethan Small, passed every test that was thrown his way last year. The 24 year old started in Low-A and ended the year in Double-A. He finished the year with an outstanding 2.03 ERA over 102 innings pitched. If Milwaukee's starting pitching depth gets tested again, he may be someone they turn to this year.

LHP Bruce Zimmerman

30 year old Zimmerman last appeared in the big leagues in 2023. That year he pitched just 13.1 innings with the Baltimore Orioles. His 5.57 career ERA isn't great, but he will be a starting pitching option for the team all year long, when/if needed.

LHP Tyler Jay

Jay got into two MLB games for the Brewers last year, with both coming at the end of July. He was DFA'd in January of this year, briefly thought he would be a Seattle Mariner in 2025, but then returned to Milwaukee on minors deal when the Mariners elected to outright him off their 40-man roster. His recent big league experience makes him a bullpen arm the team could turn to, if needed.

1B Jake Bauers

Bauers was the Brewers back up first baseman and occasional designated hitter/pinch hitter last year. With Mark Canha gone and Tyler Black starting the year in the minors, Bauers could easily fall into this role as soon as by opening day. However, an upward mobility clause is one hurdle that could result in him leaving for another organization, should Milwaukee not put him on the 40-man roster and another team desire to.

1B Ernesto Martinez

25 year old left-handed hitting and throwing Martinez is one player to keep an eye on. The 6'6" giant broke out last year in Double-A to the tune of a .284/.365/.466 slash with 13 home runs, 62 RBI, and 20 stolen bases. Similar to Bauers, he would be a natural fit to backup Rhys Hoskins at first base, but Martinez also has speed skills that the organization values.

As we broke down each of these seven players, it's clear that they all have the potential to make an impact on the Brewers this year. Some may only be around for a short period of time, but others could carve out significant roles.
