Among a host of brilliant regular and part-time contributors in 2025, the Milwaukee Brewers had a few cameos this past season that didn't mean much for the standings, but will for the really-involved baseball historians.
Steward Berroa played in all of two games while going hitless in five at-bats as an injury fill-in in the outfield. Tyler Black got into just five games with the big-league club after suffering a painful hand fracture prior to Opening Day. Nestor Cortes made just two starts before an injured-list stint and trade ended his tenure in Milwaukee.
However, there was one player who had the ultimate cameo: a one-game wonder. Drew Avans, whom the Crew claimed off waivers from the Athletics, played in a single game with the team back on June 15 against the St. Louis Cardinals. He went 0-2, though he did drive in a run via sacrifice fly in a 3-2 win.
Now, Avans is seeking greener pastures (and more playing time) elsewhere. He's signed a minor-league deal with the Colorado Rockies for the 2025 season.

The 29-year-old made his MLB debut in 2025 for the Athletics & Brewers. However he struggled in just eight games.
In Triple-A in 2025 he slashed .289/.372/.405 with eight home runs and a 101 wRC+. pic.twitter.com/4tJmYAezlF
Brewers' one-game legend Drew Avans leaves for Colorado Rockies
There really won't be much to say about Avans' impact or legacy in a Brewers uniform, other than that he technically contributed to a franchise-best 97 wins.
Still, he was productive in Triple-A Nashville, hitting .251/.329/.367 in 52 games (222 plate appearances) with the Sounds. His 90 wRC+ as a 29-year-old in Triple-A isn't much to write home about, but as a versatile defender capable of playing all three outfield spots, he could get a look with the perpetually rebuilding Rockies in 2026.
He's got the speed to handle the spacious outfield in Coors Field, having stolen 24 bags with the Sounds and 40 in total in the minor leagues on the year. He's swiped at least 23 bags in every season since 2022.
For those who procured a Drew Avans Brewers jersey during or after his debut and are looking to get some more use out of it, note that Milwaukee will be heading to Colorado for a three-game set in early June. They'll also welcome the Rockies to AmFam Field from July 24-26 next season. A good chance to see Avans (and get a few wins) there.
For the really enthused fans, they'll also play a spring training game against Colorado on March 5, and it's not unreasonable to think that Avans, armed with a non-roster invite to camp, will be playing in that contest.
