In each of the last two MLB Drafts, the Milwaukee Brewers have used one of their top two picks to draft a high school shortstop with the last name Ebel. In 2025, the Brewers selected Brady Ebel out of Corona High School in California with the 32nd overall pick. One year later, Milwaukee took Trey Ebel, Brady's younger brother, with the 25th overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft.
Both Brady and Trey are known for their high baseball IQs and unmatched work ethics, products of the pair being the sons of Los Angeles Dodgers' third base coach Dino Ebel. Their advanced profiles as baseball players are uncommon for high schoolers selected in the MLB Draft, suggesting that they have a head start on the development process that takes place in the minor leagues.
Already, those advanced profiles are turning heads in the Brewers' farm system. Just yesterday, the Brewers announced that Brady, who is still just 19 years old, is being promoted to High-A where he will join the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Simultaneously, Milwaukee announced that Trey, who is still just 17 years old, is being assigned to Low-A, where he will take Brady's place on the Wilson Warbirds' roster.

Brewers promote Brady Ebel to High-A, Trey Ebel to Low-A after both climbed Milwaukee's prospect rankings list
Over the weekend, Reviewing the Brew's Tyler Koerth wrote about Brady's addition to MLB Pipeline's Top 100 list. Just over one year after being drafted by the Brew Crew, Brady was deemed the 99th best prospect in all of baseball, and the honor is well-earned.
Brady is in the midst of a breakout season, with an excellent slash line of .261/.416/.420 in 104 games to prove it. The left-handed hitting shortstop has crushed 10 homers, 23 doubles, and four triples this year, while stealing an incredible 38 bases and collecting 96 walks, which is the most in all of Low-A. In his first full professional season, Brady has proved the Brewers right for using the 32nd overall pick in last year's draft to add him to their organization.
Meanwhile, the 17-year-old Trey had been competing with the Brewers' Arizona Complex League squad over the last few weeks, but since the ACL season has already come to a close, he was not compiling any official stats. Seemingly, Trey was impressing, as he earned a promotion to Low-A before his 18th birthday. While top prospect Jesús Made did play about one month of games at the Low-A level at 17 years old, reaching the level before turning 18 is by no means a common occurrence. Trey will immediately become the youngest player at the Low-A level.
In addition to their promotions, Brady rose up MLB Pipeline's Brewers' prospect rankings this week, and Trey was officially added to the list. Brady now ranks 5th on Milwaukee's Top 30 list, above names like Andrew Fischer, Braylon Payne, Jett Williams, and Blake Burke. Trey, meanwhile, checks in at No. 18 on Pipeline's list, surrounded by a pair of second-round picks in Sawyer Strosnider and J.D. Thompson.
With Brady and Trey already making noise in the Brewers' farm system, Milwaukee's recent decision to add both Ebel brothers to their organization in the MLB Draft looks like a wise one. Look out for both Brady and Trey in the coming years as they are quickly becoming two of the most exciting names in Milwaukee's minor league system.
