There's no denying the Milwaukee Brewers have one of the best front offices in all of baseball. To build a perennial contender with the resources available to Matt Arnold and his team requires a rare skillset that differs from the one needed in most major league front offices. While always maintaining an eye on the sustained success that Arnold and his predecessor David Stearns have both preached throughout their tenures, building a successful small-market ballclub also requires executing opportunistic deals, a skill at which Arnold excels.
The unmatched expertise of Arnold and his team of talent evaluators has not only led to the Golden Age of Brewers baseball, with the team qualifying for the postseason in seven of the last eight seasons, but the front office's impressive foresight suggests that this period of sustained success is only just beginning.
Following what was arguably his most successful season yet, one that saw the front office stick their necks out for players like Quinn Priester and Andrew Vaughn, only to see each of them turn into key contributors, Matt Arnold has been awarded a new title in the Brewers' front office.
We have promoted Matt Arnold to president of baseball operations and general manager.

Matt Arnold promoted to President of Baseball Operations and General Manager
Back in 2015, when the Brewers hired Arnold away from the Tampa Bay Rays, he joined the front office as an assistant general manager and vice president of baseball operations. A few years later, in 2019, he was promoted to senior vice president of baseball operations, and the following year he was named the team's general manager. Arnold then took over as the head of baseball operations in November of 2022, when Stearns stepped down in anticipation of his move to the New York Mets' front office; however, Arnold maintained his same titles.
Now, just before Arnold and manager Pat Murphy sat down for their post-season press conference on Thursday afternoon, the Brewers announced that their head of baseball operations received a promotion. Matt Arnold is now officially the president of baseball operations (not vice or senior vice) for the Milwaukee Brewers.
The promotion, a deserved one, is mostly ceremonial, as Arnold's role within the organization won't change. He will still lead the baseball operations and serve as the team's general manager, but he will now do so with the acknowledgement from the Brewers' ownership group that they approve of the job he is doing, by deeming him worthy of a promotion. Additionally, as pointed out by MLB.com's Adam McCalvy on the social media platform X, the move makes it more difficult for other teams to swoop in and steal him.
Matt Arnold’s job running the Brewers’ baseball ops department doesn’t change, but his promotion from executive VP and GM to president of baseball ops and GM makes it less likely another team can poach him.

We will hear from Arnold and Pat Murphy at AmFam Field this afternoon.
The Brewers are rightfully doing everything they can to ensure that Arnold remains in charge of their front office. With Arnold at the helm, there's every reason to believe that the Brewers' most successful run in franchise history will continue. It starts with an offseason full of questions, but for a team with a controllable young core, coming off of a NLCS appearance, the foundation is strong for Arnold and company.
