Injuries have unfortunately been one of the top storylines for the Milwaukee Brewers this season. While most of those injuries have come to the starting pitching staff, lately the Brewers' position player group has been affected as well. Luckily for the Crew, none of the injuries so far have been season-ending, with most of their currently injured players expected to return at or before the All-Star break. This past weekend brought on a few injury scares that have since been downplayed, but the Brewers’ starting lineup will be affected early on this week nonetheless. Let's take a look at a few Brewers who are dealing with some minor ailments.

Sal Frelick - left knee discomfort

With Garrett Mitchell and Blake Perkins already on the IL, the Milwaukee Brewers could ill-afford to lose another outfielder to injury. When Sal Frelick left Sunday's contest after tweaking his left knee on a swing at the plate, that terrifying reality looked like a possibility. However, Frelick underwent an MRI on Monday morning, and according to Adam McCalvy, the Brewers beat writer for MLB.com, the test did not reveal any significant damage, meaning the Brewers’ talented young outfielder will not require an IL stint.

It's huge news for the Brewers and Frelick, who McCalvy notes will not be in the lineup on Monday night. Frelick is off to an excellent start, slashing .297/.381/.398 with seven extra-base hits and seven stolen bases through his first 35 games of the 2025 season.

In his stead, switch-hitting Isaac Collins, right-handed newcomer Daz Cameron, and backup first-baseman Jake Bauers could each see more time. Collins, who has essentially been filling in for Mitchell since he went on the IL with an oblique strain on April 26, is hitting well as of late, slashing .316/.409/.526 in his last seven games. Bauers, on the other hand, has just one hit in his last 15 at-bats, but does offer more power potential than the other two. Finally, Cameron collected his first hit as a Brewer last night, but with righties on the mound for the Houston Astros in games one and two of this week's series, Cameron likely won't be in the starting lineup for a couple of days.

Brice Turang - Illness

Brewers second-baseman, Brice Turang, who is leading the team in runs, batting average, and stolen bases, was scratched from the lineup last Wednesday due to an undisclosed illness. While Turang was in the lineup the following day, he collected just two at-bats in the Brewers' blowout loss to the Chicago White Sox before being replaced by Vinny Capra.

In Friday's series opener against the Cubs, Turang exited early once again after he had trouble breathing following a long run for a pop-up in shallow right-field. Manager Pat Murphy told reporters after the game that Turang was still feeling the effects of the illness he suffered the previous week. However, Turang did return for games two and three of the Cubs series.

While the illness isn't serious enough for a stint on the IL, McCalvy noted that Turang will be absent from the lineup in Monday's series opener against the Astros.

Freddy Peralta - sore groin

Losing Freddy Peralta to an injury wouldn't just be the Brewers losing another starting pitcher to the IL, which would be detrimental in itself, but it would be losing the heart and soul of the Brewers' pitching staff. As a result, Brewers fans held their breath as Murphy reported that Peralta left Sunday's series finale with the Cubs due to a sore groin and not due to pitch count concerns like they had suspected.

However, Peralta's injury does not seem to be anything to worry about. Journal Sentinel Brewers beat reporter Curt Hogg noted on the social media platform X that while Peralta could be shut down for a couple of days, he should theoretically be okay when his spot in the rotation comes up again.

Peralta has been "Mr. Reliable" for the Crew in recent years, making 30 or more starts in each of the last two seasons. The Brewers will be careful with Peralta and could even move him back a spot or two in the rotation, as losing him would prove to be especially damaging to their current roster.
