Every year, the Milwaukee Brewers general manager writes his letter to Santa Claus, telling the jolly old St. Nick what he'd like to have for Christmas this year. Matt Arnold's letter this year will be no different.
Here at Reviewing the Brew, we have obtained an exclusive copy* of what Matt Arnold's letter to Santa would look like for Christmas this year.
Dear Santa Claus,
Hey Santa! It's your favorite baseball executive Matt Arnold! I think I deserve to be on the nice list this year, helping the Brewers win the NL Central for the second straight year, make the playoffs for the sixth time in the last seven seasons, and won MLB Executive of the Year as voted on by my peers. If that's not being good this year, I don't know what is.
I want to thank you for the gift of Jackson Chourio and his contract extension last December. That was absolutely the greatest gift myself or Brewers fans could have hoped for last year. How Chourio turned out in 2024 was everything he was expected to be. He became the youngest player to ever have a 20 home run and 20 stolen base season in MLB history. I'm so excited to see what he's going to do here over the next 8-10 years and hopefully more.
The first thing I want to ask for Christmas this year is a fully healthy and returned to form Brandon Woodruff. He's been out of action for the past year recovering from surgery and I'm hoping he'll be back and good to go in 2025. Prior to his surgery, Woodruff was one of the best pitchers in the game and it'd be really nice if he could be back to his old self right away this year.
The second thing I want to ask for is some help replacing Willy Adames. I lost Adames a few weeks ago to Buster Posey and the San Francisco Giants, which leaves a bit of a gaping hole in my infield. That's 32 home runs and 112 RBIs I need to replace and I'm going to need some of your help to do it. I have Caleb Durbin, who I think could help fill a big spot in my infield, but I'd maybe like to have a little more help on the dirt.
That's really the two main things I'd want for Christmas this year, Santa. I have a really good team and a lot of good players covering most of the positions, but there's just a few more finishing touches I'd like you to add under the tree on Christmas morning. I'll have the cold milk and chocolate chip cookies ready for you next to the tree.
Thank you and Merry Christmas, Santa!
Your friend,
Matt Arnold
P.S.: Pat Murphy told me he'd also like another pair of boxing gloves for Christmas
