While the Milwaukee Brewers' 2024 season came to an unfortunate end in the Wild Card round, that doesn't mean there is nothing to discuss about the Brew Crew. In fact, the premature start of their offseason has brought a wave of speculation and discussion as to what the offseason could hold for the team.

Much of that discussion has been about the likely departures of Willy Adames and Devin Williams which is completely understandable. However, Brewers officials also share a number of interesting little tidbits during end of season interviews that were notable and outside the conversation about the Brewers' big names.

William Contreras knee sprain was "mild" and isn't a long-term concern for Brewers

Contreras has been a revelation ever since the Brewers parachuted in and somehow were able to trade for him in the Sean Murphy trade in a true heist. However, it raised some eyebrows in the playoffs that Contreras moved to DH for Game 3 and he didn't look like his dominant self. As it turns out, there was a good reason for that.

Contreras had been playing through a knee sprain during the playoffs which is obviously crummy timing for the Brewers. Contreras was able to play through it, but it was pretty obviously affecting him during the biggest games of the season. Fortunately, it sounds like the knee injury is a mild one with no long-term concerns and surgery isn't going to be required.

Brewers happy with Abner Uribe's rehab progress, expect normal offseason progression

Looking a little further down Milwaukee's injured list, Abner Uribe was out for much of the season as he required surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. Uribe had not pitched particularly well before that and even got optioned back to the minors in May after a really strong 2023 season. The hope was that Uribe's knee was the source of his troubles and so far, it sounds like he is on the right track.

Regardless of position, recovering from knee injuries is notoriously tricky and setbacks are not uncommon. As a result, it is nice that Uribe's rehab seems to be going well. Assuming he gain regain his previous form and hit the ground running in spring training, Uribe could easily see a lot of action in high leverage situations especially if the Brewers do, indeed, trade Williams this offseason.

Jacob Misiorowski may need more work in minors, but is firmly in the Brewers' pitching plans going forward

In terms of pure arm talent, you won't find many players with more of it than Jacob Misiorowski. As it turns out, 6'7 power pitchers who routinely top triple digits with their fastball and complement it with an absolute hammer power slider are pretty exciting. However, Misiorowski's command has left something to be desired so far and that led Brewers manager Pat Murphy to indicate that he may need more seasoning in the minors before his big league ascension.

In an ideal world, Misiorowski would stay in the rotation and be a potential frontline starter for the Brewers for years to come. However, Misiorowski's issues with walks could push him to the bullpen where he would have a chance to been a truly dominant force late in games.
