The injury bug has yet to subside for the Milwaukee Brewers, who lost their center fielder, Garrett Mitchell, to the 10-day IL after he left Friday night's game with left oblique tightness. Mitchell, who can't seem to catch a break when it comes to injuries, will now miss time in three consecutive seasons due to time spent on the IL. Despite appearing in parts of four MLB seasons, Mitchell has played just 141 games, still waiting for a healthy season so he can showcase his full potential.
The news wasn't all bad for the Brewers on Saturday morning, as Mitchell's injury wasn't deemed severe and he should therefore only be away from the team for around two weeks. Additionally, an exciting replacement will join the team in Mitchell's stead, who should hopefully add a spark to Brewers team that has dropped three games in a row.

Daz Cameron, son of former Brewer Mike Cameron, promoted to Brewers major league roster
Although Brewers fans will certainly be disappointed not to see their electric center fielder on the field for the foreseeable future, their pain should be slightly eased by the prospect of watching the son of a former fan favorite take the field. Daz Cameron, who the Brewers acquired in a trade for Grant Wolfram on April 7, has been promoted to the big league roster after an impressive showing in Triple-A Nashville.

Brewers fans should not only be excited about Cameron because he's the son of former Brewer Mike Cameron, but also because he's on an absolute tear at the plate right now. In 11 games for the Nashville Sounds, Cameron posted an absurd slash line of .370/.404/.870 with six home runs, five doubles, and 18 runs batted in. Cameron was even awarded the International League Player of the Week honors last week, making him the clear choice to replace Mitchell on the active roster. However, with Cameron not on the Brewers' 40-man roster, a corresponding roster move was needed to open up a spot. That move comes with some more disappointing injury news.
Blake Perkins transferred to 60-day IL
Blake Perkins, the Brewers’ usual fourth outfielder who displays an elite glove in center field, has been transferred to the 60-day IL to make room for Cameron on the 40-man roster. Perkins fractured his shin in spring training after fouling a ball off his lower leg. While Brewers fans were expecting to see the dynamic Perkins back on the field before the end of May, it appears as if he needs more time to build back up before fans will see him back in action with the big league club.
It's disappointing news for Perkins, who had a mini breakout season in 2024. His versatility as a switch hitter at the plate, his impressive speed on the base paths, and his elite defense in the outfield have all been greatly missed by the Brewers this season. For now, the Brewers turn to an outfield group consisting of Cameron, Jackson Chourio, Sal Frelick, Christian Yelich, and Isaac Collins as they hope to just tread water in a mediocre NL Central, while waiting for their roster to return to full strength.
